Summer Project
Coast Photos
The word I chose for my summer project was coast. So my plan was to take arrange of photos taken by the coast of the things that you would see/find at the coast. The things that range in my photos are rocks and cliff, the sea and boats and also sunsets and skies. All of my photos are taken in Wales as I made the trip to both south and north Wales during the summer break. I presented my photos in this sketchbook, the first set of photos is shot in North Wales and the second set is from South Wales.

Evaluation
Overall I enjoyed shooting my photos and doing the summer
project it certainly kept me busy, the main part I liked about this project was
that I went to a different place that I hadn’t been to before which was South
Wales, it was a coincidence that I was already going on holiday to somewhere
near the coast so it was helpful. I had planned that I could go to North Wales
as my Auntie lives there and could go for the day and get the photos I needed.

Study Leave Work
Study Leave Project
Duane Michals - Research
Duane Michals is an American photographer. Largely
self-taught, his work is known for its innovation and artistry. Michals' style
often features photo-sequences and the incorporation of text to examine emotion
and philosophy, resulting in a unique body of work. In 1958 while on a holiday in the USSR he
discovered an interest in photography. The photographs he made during this trip
became his first exhibition held in 1963 at the Underground Gallery in New York
City.
For a number of years, Michals worked in commercial
photography, working for Esquire and Mademoiselle, and he covered the filming
of The Great Gatsby for Vogue. He did not have a studio. Instead, he took
portraits of people in their environment, which was a contrast to the method of
other photographers at the time, such as Avedon and Irving Penn.
In
1968 Michals was hired by the government of Mexico to photograph the 1968
Olympic Games. In 1970 his works were shown at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
The portraits he took between 1958 and 1988 would later become the basis of his
book, Album. In 1976 Michals received a grant from the National Endowment for
the Arts. Michals also produced the art for the album Synchronicity in 1983,
and Richard Barone's Clouds Over Eden album in 1993.
Chance meeting
This narrative is of a meeting between two people that think
they know each other. This could be a meeting a friends that have not seen each
other since childhood and only recognize one another once they have passed. The
techniques that have been used in this photo are depth of field and good use of
composition. The man on the right is slightly out of focus this could be
because the main subject is unsure on whether he knows him or not.
My work
Bellow is my
photo narrative that I made, the photos were taken as the events happened on the same day, it is based on what I would
do on a normal day when I am not st college and don’t have work to do, although
on this occasion I did not get to do it as I got a puncture on my bike, and
only got to ride one place. I decided it make the photos black & white so
that it gives a gloomy feel to the photos because it was not a very good days
as I couldn’t ride my bike.
Photo Story 2
This is another idea I had and did, it is a sequence of a bike being built and as it gets more parts added to it, the pictures gradually come into focus. The idea behind it is that you cannot see it properly until it is complete because you could not ride it if it was not complete. I made this one because it reflects what I like to do and it was an event that happened in the 2 weeks up to this project.
